Assistant Professor of Teaching (Tenure Track) Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy

The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full‐time position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching (Tenure Track) located at the UBC Surrey Campus.

The UBC Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy is home to 18 academic faculty members, nine administrative and technical support staff members, and approximately 300 clinical faculty and associate members. The Department’s mission is to create, inspire and uphold a scholarly community that contributes to the health of individuals and communities through research on occupation and education programs for occupational therapy students, health professionals, and scientists. Through the continued support of its academic, clinical, student, and alumni community, the Department strives to realize its vision of “health and participation for all.”

Reporting to the Head of OSOT, the successful candidate will be the Academic Lead for the Fraser region and will engage in teaching both theory and clinical practice skills courses using diverse methods and online learning tools, participate in course planning, support curriculum development, and engage in student evaluation in the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program delivered at the MOT Surrey Campus under the direction of the Associate Head, Academic and Educational Affairs. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in administrative activities, provide representation in departmental and university committees, collaborate with other programs and departments and be active in service to the department, University and the broader academic and professional community. The position will be required to travel to UBC Point Grey Campus, Vancouver for teaching and liaison responsibilities.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree, be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC) and be a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – BC (CAOT-BC). Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. degree. The successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of commitment to teaching, ability to teach at the graduate level, and the promise of educational leadership. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in teaching within an educational and practice settings, and have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in academic administration.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
